John Madden has decided to retire from the broadcasting booth according to a statement released on ESPN.com. Madden has been a staple of NFL broadcasting for over 30 years with his work done for CBS,FOX,ABC and NBC. Although Madden became the running joke for many sports fans and comedians (Frank Caliendo) I'll always remember him for his work done in the early 1990's. Pat Summerall and John Madden were a fixture in the booth for a long time and they did some great work. I've watched countless broadcasts over the years with Madden dating back to the 1992 NFC championship which probably had one the best Summerall-Madden introductions. Here's a blast from the past looking back at some of Madden's work on CBS during the late 1980's and early 1990's. Thursday, April 16, 2009
